SIRONG FESTIVAL

The Sirong Festival is about commemorating that portion of Cantilan’s history where early Christians had to defend themselves against the raids perpetrated by Islamized natives or muslims, then called the Spaniards as Moors or Moros.

Sirong, while it may refer to a particular action such as fencing and escrima, has, metamorphosed into the Cantilangnon’s continuing search for its destiny as a people; and every festival is testament to that journey.

Anent to the occasion, Dr. Baceledes R. Estal had the honor to deliver the Welcome Address to commemorate part of Cantilan’s history.
