A Ritual: Lighting, Guiding the Profession of Selfless Service

The Nightingale lamp is a symbol of care and devotion. In this ritual, the candidates are being a part of the sisterhood and brotherhood of midwives. 

September 13, 2017 at the Audio Visula Center at exactly 1:00p.m. it marks the 10th Candle Lighting Ceremony of the Surigao del Sur State University-main Campus of the Diploma in Midwifery Program in this ritual, the Nightingale lamp was lighted as a symbol of care and devotion as the students steeped into becoming advanced practiced midwives and started taking the  path of selfless service.

Dr. Efrie Shella E. Laguesma-Arreza,the midwifery principal from Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center (ASTMMC) inspire the future midwives that as they enter into clinical and community they must possess "the hand of a lady, the eyes of a hawk and the eyes of a lion to achieve greater  heights in their personal and professional careers, because their service will help make this world a better place."
