In a bid to strengthen the Gender and Development (GAD) program of North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU), a GAD mainstream seminar took place at the Audio-Visual Center (AVC) of NEMSU-Main campus, September 22.
Dr. Jingle M. Luna, GAD Coordinator of the College of Arts and Sciences, underscored the significance of the event in alignment with Republic Act 9710, better known as the Magna Carta for Women.
"Republic Act 7910, also known as the Magna Carta of Women, provides that all departments shall establish or strengthen their gender and development (GAD) focal point system to catalyze and accelerate gender mainstreaming within the agency or the entire government unit." Dr. Luna said.
In addition, she eloquently expressed how GAD mainstream be implemented or attributed in all NEMSU's programs and projects to further raise GAD awareness.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abundio C. Miralles, Campus Director, stressed the need for a more profound exploration of the applicability and effectiveness of GAD, acknowledging its crucial role in society.
"This social issue requires more in-depth exploration, especially within organizations, to promote its significance and determine its applicability and effectiveness," stated Dr. Miralles.
NEMSU's proactive approach in this regard underscores its unwavering commitment to promoting gender equality and women's rights, in full compliance with legal requirements.
The seminar garnered participation from key officials, GAD coordinators, and students representing various campuses of the university.
