The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) conducted Phase 2: Advancing NEMSU's College of Medicine Program through Strategic Collaboration from April 18-20, 2024, at O's Landing Beach Resort in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur.

Attending the event were Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon, the University President III, Dr. Maria Lady Sol A. Suazo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rolly G. Salvaleon, Vice President for Extension and Research, Dr. Abundio C. Miralles, Vice President for Administration and Finance, members of the revision and enhancement committee, the academic committee, and expert consultants such as Dr. Michael Leocadio and Dr. Ma. Cecilia C. Cruiz. The presence of a distinguished guest, Atty. Malaya M. Capulong, MD, who is both a doctor and a lawyer, added valuable perspectives to the event. Meanwhile, the two other consultants, namely, Dr. Horacio Saguil, Jr., and Dr. Milabel Ho, contributed remotely via Zoom, ensuring a comprehensive exchange of ideas.

The primary objective of this gathering was to finalize the necessary documentation and paperwork required for submission to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The event also included an insightful discussion led by Dr. Leocadio on the topic of Mindfulness, aimed at equipping participants with essential mindfulness techniques.

This significant milestone underscores the tangible progress made towards realizing the vision of establishing the College of Medicine at NEMSU. It reflects the efforts and dedication of all involved parties towards this noble endeavor.
